Honey: The Most Beloved Food in the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Diet

Before discussing the benefits of honey, let's begin with the divine command from Allah: "In it (honey) is healing for mankind." (Quran, An-Nahl 16:69)

Honey is a miraculous substance known for its healing properties. It strengthens vital organs such as the heart, mind, stomach, and liver, providing a boost of energy and improving bodily functions. It purifies the blood and also helps in blood production. For cooling the liver, honey can be mixed with water and consumed. The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Whoever consumes honey for three days each month in the morning will be protected from major afflictions."

Honey is an effective remedy for the removal of sticky mucus, clearing the body of harmful fluids. It is especially beneficial for phlegmatic diseases such as paralysis, stroke, and muscle weakness. Combined with Lahori salt and onion juice, honey is beneficial for asthma, itchy eyes, and cataracts. For strengthening the brain and eliminating wrinkles, consume milk, butter, and honey.

There is a story from India that illustrates the power of honey: "On January 16th, I entered a dark room near the Ganges River. My diet consisted of milk, butter, and honey. I rested during the day and spent my mornings and evenings in contemplation. By February 28th, I returned, transformed. The wrinkles on my face had disappeared completely, and my gums were strengthened. My family, who were familiar with my aging appearance, found it difficult to recognize me. I looked thirty years younger."

Honey, when mixed with water, clears the chest of accumulated mucus, phlegm, and cough. Mixing honey with white onion juice increases sperm count. Garlic paste mixed with honey is effective for removing venom from insect stings. It also helps break down kidney and bladder stones, cleans and strengthens teeth, and improves the digestive system.

In Ayurveda, honey is known for strengthening the stomach, enhancing complexion, increasing appetite, and helping with heart-related ailments. It nourishes the voice and is beneficial for conditions like leprosy, gonorrhea, fever, cough, heart palpitations, excessive thirst, blood disorders, mental illnesses, hiccups, asthma, rib pain, eye diseases, and constipation.

Honey is also known to strengthen the lungs, soothe throat dryness, alleviate breathing difficulties, and is a key ingredient in asthma remedies. For women's health, honey is extremely beneficial, promoting milk production and normalizing menstrual blood flow. It cleanses the womb from harmful substances and accelerates healing when applied to fresh wounds. Honey is a great remedy for wounds caused by sharp objects, burns, and injuries.

For better sleep, drink a glass of cold water with two tablespoons of honey. Honey restores body moisture and is an excellent remedy for weight loss. It prevents premature aging and improves skin appearance. A drop of honey applied to the eyes enhances their brightness. Drinking water with lemon and honey detoxifies the body and brightens the skin.

Consuming small amounts of honey regularly maintains proper digestion, controls acidity, and aids in treating ulcers. Honey also works as an effective remedy for lice and dandruff. For stronger, shinier hair, mix four tablespoons of honey with two tablespoons of pure olive oil, massage into the scalp, and leave for half an hour before washing with warm water and shampoo. Honey is also used in facial masks and hand lotions for smoother, softer skin.
